Puerto Rico is a Caribbean island and unincorporated U.S. territory with a landscape of mountains, waterfalls and the El Yunque tropical rainforest. Moreover, this location has a lot of things that you need to see, and that we assure you that you will enjoy. However, like every other city, country, or location, it has its rules, culture, and regulations. If you are planning to visit Puerto Rico, keep on reading as we guide you through the things that you need to know before you go there.
NOT EVERYONE SPEAKS ENGLISH
What most people do not know is, being part of the United States, does not make people magically bilingual. In fact, this is an island that had a 400 years of history more than the United States itself. However, you will be able to find people who will be fluent in English and will make you feel less in an awkward situation. However, do not expect that from everyone, and do not get mad if you bumped into someone who will not be able to understand what you are saying.
Public transportation is basically NON-EXISTENT
Do not even try to ask about Uber services, because it does not exist over there. In fact, moving from place to another on this island will be the thing you will spend the most money on! This is why we recommend you to do one of these two things: first option, try to rent a car; it will be expensive nut you will be able to go wherever you want and whenever. Second option, taxi! Their price is ridiculously expensive so only use them when needed.
Make friends with locals
This is the best thing to do over there. In fact, locals are very friendly, and will help you discover the best places over there. Moreover, they might help you not getting stolen by people who take advantage of tourists.
