Some of you, probably had no idea that Pablo Picasso had a daughter. Yes, he has one, and her name is Paloma Picasso, the well known for her signature lipstick, and the designer of many jewelry items for both Yves Saint Laurent and Tiffany and Co. In addition, an owner of a jewelry line she designed herself.

Synopsis

Paloma, the daughter of the well-known artist, Pablo Picasso, was born on April 19, 1949, in Vallauris, France. Moreover, in the year 1986, she was working on her own, being a costume and accessory designer. Soon after, the jewelry she designed, caught the attention of some fashion critics, who said that they were exceptional and well made. Moreover, this reputation, got her a new job: a jewelry designer for Zolotas, Yves Saint Laurent and Tiffany and Co. after a while, Paloma released her own line, making perfume, and accessories for designers.

Paloma is the daughter of Pablo Picasso and his artist and writer lover Franoise Gilot. This girl was surrounded by artist from the moment she was born. Her name “Paloma”, in Spanish means “dove”, and she was named like that because of the famous symbol her father designed for the International Peace Conference in Paris the year Paloma was born. Additionally, Paloma Picasso is seen in many of her father’s works such as: Paloma with an Orange and Paloma in Blue.

Her career started in 1986, when she started designing jewelry for Tiffany and Co. after that, she decided to go on her own, and launched her brand, Paloma Picasso. In her brand, she created perfumes and jewelry for fashion designers including an eponymous scent and Mon Rouge, a dramatic scarlet lipstick that became her trademark.

Personal Life

At first she was married to Argentinean businessman Rafael Lopez-Cambil for 21 years. However, soon after their divorce, she got married to French doctor Eric Thevenet.

However, the things that made him famous, were his dresses. In fact, the dresses he designed were sexy as well as streamlined, and appropriate to be worn to high-strung nights on a disco floor. However, after spending two decades of dressing the jet-set, the designer was diagnosed with AIDS, and he passed away in 1990.

As a result, his clients became ones of the well-known people in that time such as: Rita Hayworth, Liza Minnelli, Marlene Dietrich and Diana Vreeland.

In fact, it was only two years later that he offered the world his most famous dress that was his trademark, “The Halter Dress”.

Tommy Hilfiger was born in Elmira, New York, on March 24, 1951. Moreover, Tommy went to Elmira Free Academy in high school, where he had to sneak 15 pounds of weight in his pockets to get on the football team. Hilfiger suffered from Dyslexia as well.

When he was a teenager, Tommy used to buy jeans and remake them in order to sell for a markup in Elmira. After that, when he turned 18, Hilfiger opened, in Elmira, a store called “The People’s Place”. Moreover, the store used to sell hippie supplies such as: bell-bottoms, records, and incense. Moreover, he became really successful and used to earn a six figure income. However, he filed for bankruptcy in 1977.

In 1976, Hilfiger got married to an employee in one of his stores whom he fell madly in love with. She was called Carona. The couple went to Manhattan and started working. Moreover, Tommy was known for being a hard worker and he was offered jobs at Perry Ellis and Calvin Klein. However, really wanted, however his own label.

Ellis influenced fashion industry to the extent that he was called “a huge turning point”. In fact, the reason he was called like that is because he introduced new patterns and proportions to the more traditional men’s clothing’s market.

Perry Ellis was known as an innovative fashion designer. Moreover, he was born on March 3, 1940, in Portsmouth, Virginia. When he was a teenager, he moved to New York, after working for a sports wear shop. In New York, Perry launched his own company, “Perry Ellis Sportswear” and his brand quickly became a popular. Unfortunately, he passed away on May 30, 1986, from complications associated with the AIDS virus.

Legacy

In fact, even to these days, his designs are continuing to be a big part of the fashion world and landscape. In addition, his company is still working and producing outfits and fashion items.

Moreover, Perry Ellis, before he died, had a small family. He was in a relationship with a television writer and producer called Barbara Gallagher. In addition, the couple decided to have a baby together. In 1984, Tyler Alexandra Gallagher Ellis, their daughter was born. Unfortunately, she was born only 18 months before her father’s death.
