Rabih Kayrouz: Fashion Designer

Rabih Kayrouz is a Lebanese fashion designer. He got his reputation first in Paris. Furthermore he is one of only two Lebanese fashion designers included in the official calendar of couture fashion shows in Paris. In other words, he is a young Lebanese designer wanted to do something international.

Rabih Kayrouz was born in Lebanon in 1973. At age 10 Rabih spent hours in front of the television watching fashion shows being broadcast from Paris.  Because of the civil war in his country he migrated to Paris. Kayrouz joined the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne to finish his education.

Kayrouz in 1995 started several workshops of design houses Dior and Chanel. That what gave him a very good experience. He took his decision to return to Beirut his native country. Furthermore, he started to build his reputation and develop himself. So he began designing evening gowns and wedding dresses.

In 2008, Kayrouz returned to Paris to open his own design house (Maison Rabih Kayrouz). He became a correspondent member in Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. Three years later he launched his ready-to-wear line. Furthermore, Kayrouz created a non-profit organization called the Starch Foundation in order to help young Lebanese designers to reach their aims.

Till now he continues to beat his own path, and see fashion follow. Furthermore, his name now alongside Chanel and Dior in the couture hall of fame.

His designs created in elegant special way. Kayrouz differentiates between couture and ready-to-wear. His ready-to-wear collections are complement with urban lifestyle and “know-how” style. While his haute- couture specializes in the style codes. In general he uses different techniques in his collections. He keeps the emotion and dreamy aspect of couture. Moreover, he creates for the pleasure of women creating clothes that can be either protective or seducing.

 

Paloma Picasso

Some of you, probably had no idea that Pablo Picasso had a daughter. Yes, he has one, and her name is Paloma Picasso, the well known for her signature lipstick, and the designer of many jewelry items for both Yves Saint Laurent and Tiffany and Co. In addition, an owner of a jewelry line she designed herself.

Synopsis

Paloma, the daughter of the well-known artist, Pablo Picasso, was born on April 19, 1949, in Vallauris, France. Moreover, in the year 1986, she was working on her own, being a costume and accessory designer. Soon after, the jewelry she designed, caught the attention of some fashion critics, who said that they were exceptional and well made. Moreover, this reputation, got her a new job: a jewelry designer for Zolotas, Yves Saint Laurent and Tiffany and Co. after a while, Paloma released her own line, making perfume, and accessories for designers.

Paloma is the daughter of Pablo Picasso and his artist and writer lover Franoise Gilot. This girl was surrounded by artist from the moment she was born. Her name “Paloma”, in Spanish means “dove”, and she was named like that because of the famous symbol her father designed for the International Peace Conference in Paris the year Paloma was born. Additionally, Paloma Picasso is seen in many of her father’s works such as: Paloma with an Orange and Paloma in Blue.

Her career started in 1986, when she started designing jewelry for Tiffany and Co. after that, she decided to go on her own, and launched her brand, Paloma Picasso. In her brand, she created perfumes and jewelry for fashion designers including an eponymous scent and Mon Rouge, a dramatic scarlet lipstick that became her trademark.

Personal Life

At first she was married to Argentinean businessman Rafael Lopez-Cambil for 21 years. However, soon after their divorce, she got married to French doctor Eric Thevenet.

Betsey Johson; Fashion Designer

Betsey Johnson is an American fashion designer. She was born on August 10, 1942. Betsey was known for her feminine designs, as well as for fancy, offbeat and edgy style. Moreover, she liked doing special and unusual things, such as performing a cartwheel after every show.

This unique fashion designer grew up with a love for art and dance. In the 1960s her avant garde designs were part of the “youthquake” movement; this is when her career as fashion designer started. However, this career was low, until she was inspired by the punk rock style and created fashion for a new generation. At first, Betsey opened a small boutique in New York, and after that she reached more than 60 stores worldwide.

Early Life

In fact, what lead Betsey to become a fashion designer was a combination for the passions she had. “What I tried to do was a combination of dance and art,” she says, “I realized that making clothes is completing what a drawing can’t be—going from two dimensional to reality.” Moreover, after graduating, she decided to follow her interests in art and design, and enrolled in Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.

As A Fashion Designer

After graduating from college, Johnson immediately made her first appearance in the New York fashion industry when she won Mademoiselle Magazine’s Guest Editor Contest and earned a job in the magazine’s department of art.

Moreover, one year later, she had a job as a fashion designer in Paraphernalia, a clothing boutique in New York. This is where she developed her style using unusual fabrics such as shower curtains.

Moreover, in 1978, she partnered with an ex-model Chantal Bacon and started their own company and opened her first retail store in Manhattan. “Our partnership is better than a marriage,” Johnson said. ”We keep our private lives separate, but we’ve been through a lot together. She keeps the books and I keep the look.”

 

Pierre Cardin

Pierre Cardin is a French fashion designer who was born in Italy. Moreover, he was the first designer to introduce “bubble dress” in 1954. Furthermore, on October 16, 2009, Pierre Cardin was nominated Goodwill Ambassador of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

Pierre Cardin is a high fashion designer who is known for his geometric avant-garde designs. Moreover, in the 1960s his use of goggles and helmets were the reason for launching “t”. After that, Cardin expanded into the automobile market in the early where he designed haute couture muscle car interiors. As a result, he now owns a chain of Maxim hotels and restaurants.

Pierre Cardin is a fashion designer who was born in San Biagio di Callalta, Italy on July 2, 1922, to French parents. He eventually went to work for a tailor in Vichy, France. Over there, he began to acquire the skills that made him one of the most successful designers of the 20th century.

Early Fashion Career

During his first years after he moved to Paris, Cardin jumped for job to job. Moreover, he found a job in “the Paquin fashion house” that belonged to the famous dress designer Jeanne Paquin. However, she died before Cardin’s time there. Cardin moved from Paquin to the Schiaperelli fashion house that same year.

Pierre is known for helping to design Dior’s “New Look,” which was intended to emphasize femininity in women’s clothing after the period of women taking on traditionally masculine roles during World War II.

In 190, after working for Dior, Pierre left to start his own line. He first started by designing outfits for stage productions, and after that, he immediately built a client base. Cardin says of his beginning, “I started with 20 people. I was successful immediately.” Moreover, in 1957, Pierre Cardin opened his first boutique in Paris for men, it was called “Adam”.
